Hello, my name is Jaymie Friesen and I am a psychotherapist with over a decade of experience working in the field of mental health, abuse response, and abuse prevention. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy and Spirituality, and ground my work in a holistic approach, attending to the emotional, physical, psychological, relational, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of a person’s life. I welcome all parts of one’s story into the therapeutic space.
My own journey has taken me through the depths of depression, OCD, anxiety, and depersonalization. These experiences have shaped not only my compassion, but also my clinical expertise. I am deeply committed to supporting individuals navigating these mind–body states. My Master’s Capstone, Small Steps of Trust, offers an integrative framework for treating lesser-known forms of OCD, including Pure O and themes related to harm, scrupulosity, relationships, spirituality, health, and sexuality.
I am highly attuned to the ways our sense of meaning, aliveness, and connection can fracture in seasons of physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual/existential pain. I believe that the wounds we carry, and the suffering we endure, can become openings to our own wholeness and healing. I walk with clients through loss, uncertainty, and darkness, offering tools to manage distress while also addressing the deeper roots of their pain. My approach to therapy is deeply collaborative. I seek to understand and honour each person’s values, wisdom, goals, and strengths, co-creating a path forward that feels authentic and congruent with who they are.
The primary therapeutic modalities I draw on include Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). When working with OCD, I also integrate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to support meaningful, lasting change.
